well, 'sharp knife', of course, but it seems to me that this is somewhat lexicalized, a knife with a sharp end, as opposed to a blunt, harmless one. I wouldn't go so far as to translate as "dagger", but you get my point.

警方在现场找到一把利刀 the police found knives

有3名持有利刀的巴勒斯坦人 they were carrying knives

or maybe /(sharp) knife/ is enough?
