colonialist = believer in the policy or practice of a wealthy or powerful nation's maintaining or extending its control over other countries
I think "colonialist" would be 殖民主義者 rather than 殖民者.

A @ 殖民者 = colonizer
and LA's definition seems to match that:
透過武力把經濟、政治勢力擴張到不發達國家或地區,掠奪和奴役當地人民的國家或勢力。

However, in J examples, it seems that 殖民者 can refer to individuals (colonists, settlers):
最初期的殖民者发现美洲林木丰茂,土地肥沃,雨水充足。
"The earliest colonists found abundant forests and suitable soil with adequate rainfall."

K may have copied our definition ~ 殖民者 zhímínzhě ◊ colonialist
