So I suggest "spare (time)" as a gloss. "amateur" is good. Heaps of examples in TP, for example, but it's used as an *adjective*: 餘無線電 amateur radio 業餘球員 amateur player 業餘樂團 amateur band 業餘歷史研究者 amateur historian So I propose "amateur (player etc)" to indicate it's not the noun sense of "amateur". I don't think "extracurricular" is very helpful. It can mean "lying outside one's regular duties or routine" but it more commonly means sth else. Other glosses seem to do the job better. If an additional gloss seems necessary, I'd suggest /after-hours/ would be better. |
