1) Perhaps we don't need "front platform", especially at the head of the definition.

2) If people refer to 前台与后台, then perhaps 前台 can just mean what NC says: "stage" (since 后台 means "backstage area").

(Presumably, they are saying things are busy both onstage and backstage -- rather than specifically at the *front* of the stage and in the backstage area, but curiously quiet at the rear of the stage.)
