Entry needs checking.
At the least, insert "to" before verbs.
"carry out"?

Editor: has been in the queue for some time.

Discussion has lead to reject "open-minded" or "politically progressive"; it seems these senses would rather be "cheerful" and "politically aware".
ex:
巴金 《家》四:“她的心灵马上开展了。 her soul opened out
批評我政治上不開展 (Rich:) the definition "lagging behind in political understanding; slow in political progress" fits the Mao-era examples better than "open-minded; politically progressive"
Diff:
- 開展 开展 [kai1 zhan3] /(begin to) develop/unfold/to start/to launch/to open/to carry out/
# + 開展 开展 [kai1 zhan3] /(begin to) develop/unfold/to start/to launch/to open/to carry out/
+ 開展 开展 [kai1 zhan3] /to launch/to develop/to unfold/(of an exhibition etc) to open/
