Discussion has lead to reject "open-minded" or "politically progressive"; it seems these senses would rather be "cheerful" and "politically aware". ex: 巴金 《家》四:“她的心灵马上开展了。 her soul opened out 批評我政治上不開展 (Rich:) the definition "lagging behind in political understanding; slow in political progress" fits the Mao-era examples better than "open-minded; politically progressive" |
