<< review queue entry 55969 - submitted by 'goldyn_chyld' >> M: Lee Ku-mo's paintings feature common-or-gardern subjects and often include visual puns. For example, a chicken (ji in Chinese) may symbolize that which is auspicious (also ji), while a painting of a kuei and a pieh, two varieties of turtle, stands for the common saying "a kuei mocks a pieh for having no tail" (i.e. the pot calling the kettle black). |
