From the definition it could be "dance" as in "May I have this dance?"
but I don't think it is.
Nor is it "a social gathering at which people dance".
I think it's "dance" as a performance art (i.e usually this *uncountable* noun sense).

Looking at many examples of usage, it seems to be associated with choreography, rehearsals, dance school, techniques etc
So maybe we could add /dancing/ and/or make it /dance (performance art)/

K says it can be a verb, but I don't find much to support that.

/dance (performance art)/dancing/ ?
Diff:
- 舞蹈 舞蹈 [wu3 dao3] /dance/
# + 舞蹈 舞蹈 [wu3 dao3] /dance/
+ 舞蹈 舞蹈 [wu3 dao3] /dance (performance art)/dancing/
