This has been around for a while now, but I came across this sentence today: http://news.qjwb.com.cn/shehui/2015/0416/131231.shtml 不过，当你感受着南方渐渐暖（yan）和（re）起来的天气，你是否知道：昨天，北方的一场风沙已经卷起了新一轮的南北之争！ here the quotes are working like the english (read: xxx) something like: slowing warming up (read: sweltering) .... mainstream usage is more like the examples in the articles above: 你（shi）好（ji）帅（hen）啊（chou）！这段话的字面意思是“你好帅”，但按照括号文化来解读就成了“实际很丑”。 an "open secret" sort of "code" reject it by all means ----------------------------------------------------- Editor: Google and Baidu can only offer a few dozen webpages containing the expression 括号文化. |
