Vigilance is not the point. Removing scales from one's eyes is a good biblical reference, but only partially successful as a translation.

Editor: vigilance is totally the point.
Diff:
# - 擦亮眼睛 擦亮眼睛 [ca1 liang4 yan3 jing1] /remove the scales from one's eyes/sharpen one's vigilance/
# + 擦亮眼睛 擦亮眼睛 [ca1 liang4 yan3 jing1] /to polish one's eyes (idiom)/fig. to take a fresh look/removing scales from one's eyes/
# ## Our convention is to have verbs in infinitive.
- 擦亮眼睛 擦亮眼睛 [ca1 liang4 yan3 jing1] /remove the scales from one's eyes/sharpen one's vigilance/
+ 擦亮眼睛 擦亮眼睛 [ca1 liang4 yan3 jing1] /to keep one's eyes open (idiom)/to be on one's guard/to be clear-eyed/
