我妻子开路,孩子们跟在后面,我压阵
有一次赴美公干的机会,还是具体负责的副组长,当然有领导作为组长压阵。

Editor: Regarding the comment
"I have no example for [the ABC definition] "crack troops" (or is it "crack (troops)?), it seems logical if those troops are intended to provide crucial support when the lines give in." --

I don't think crack troops are necessarily used for that purpose. I think they are simply highly trained, elite troops.
Here's a quote from a newspaper article:
"In the Falklands War, crack troops go on a suicidal mission to storm Galtieri's Exocet missile base [...] SAS troop were ordered to attack an Argentina missile base"
So here, the crack troops are being used to attack rather than to support failing lines.
Diff:
# 壓陣 压阵 [ya1 zhen4] /to bring up the rear/to back up/to support/
+ 壓陣 压阵 [ya1 zhen4] /to bring up the rear/to provide support/to hold the lines/
