<< review queue entry 50196 - submitted by 'haton' >> Seen many translations as a noun (justice) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Editor: It's a stative verb, and like most verbs (stative or otherwise), in some contexts it can be seen as a noun. In many CEDICT entries, it's assumed that the user understands this. Even if 公正 is defined as "fair" or "impartial" or "just", it should be understood that 公正 can mean - being fair - being impartial - being just - fairness - impartiality - justice as in the following examples - 然而史料的裁剪,史觀的建立,史筆的公正與否,... - 只有黨政軍退出電視才能確保電視的公正、專業。 You *could* define 公正 as /just/fair/impartial/justice/fairness/impartiality/ but we choose to be concise, just as in 快樂 快乐 [kuai4 le4] /happy/merry/ In an expression like 在痛苦中寻求快乐, the noun form of "happy" ("happiness") is appropriate for the purposes of translation, but we choose not to have a policy of explicitly listing noun senses, so "happy; merry" is sufficient. |
