<< review queue entry 52012 - submitted by 'nolan' >> I spoke to a few teachers who specialize in teaching Chinese to native English speakers about this this week - they're graduate students at Peking University, except for one who already has a PhD and teaches at Columbia - and they all say both Pleco and CC-Edict are wrong: unlike 经历, 经验 cannot function as a verb. They all say the real difference between the two terms is that 经验 refers to what you learn from 经历. (Also that 经历 can be a verb, and in its noun form can be countable.) Wish I could edit Pleco too. ===================================================== Edit: You *can* suggest changes to Pleco by writing to feedback@pleco.com. But you might also like to write to all these other dictionaries that have the verb sense, to set them straight. MoE ~ 1. New Century ~ 1. 名 experience 2. 动 go through; experience; undergo New Age: 1. ... 2. go through; experience Xiandai Hanyu Cidian also has the verb sense. The Web has lots of examples of verb usage 2 million hits for "经验过" e.g. 回忆:当经验过的事物不在面前能把它重新回想。 http://wenku.baidu.com/view/4fec746aa98271fe910ef9ec.html?from=related |
