"wonderful" seems to be the most often used and apt rendering (see GT and J), while "brilliant" is used less often, and is an unnecessarily ambiguous word to use as the first gloss.

K and NC have "lively, vigorous" or "lively; spirited" as a second, "literary" sense. We could add that if we can confirm it.
