There's discussion of this issue (qiao2 vs. qiao4) on the forum below -- the conclusion is that since it means "sticking up the tongue," it should be qiao4. I'm not sure "curled up" is really accurate, either... but it's close, and it does interpolate between the Chinese "翘" and "卷" and the English "retroflex."
