Webster @ restitute 1 : to restore to a former state or position 2 : give back; especially : refund Certainly, "give back" is the sense that is most relevant in the much more common *noun* form of the word: restitution : the act of returning something that was lost or stolen to its owner : payment that is made to someone for damage, trouble, etc. [Webster] 2) "return to former state" could be taken as an intransitive verb. I think 復原, in the intended sense, is transitive. 3) "to heal" can be transitive, and I think it's the intransitive sense that is intended here, already adequately defined as "to recover from illness". "to heal" just adds ambiguity to the defintion. |
