<< review queue entry 48459 - submitted by 'goldyn_chyld' >> i don't think just "saying" is enough... GF: 著名的话;常被人们引用来说理的话。 至理名言 这也是两句名言,我们常常引用的... Editor: I think there are many different terms that would the most apt in different contexts. I'll just put in two on this occasion. A "saying", as defined in Wp <<A saying is something that is said, notable in one respect or another, to be "a pithy expression of wisdom or truth".>> matches pretty well what M gives as a def for 名言: 有價值的言論﹑善言。 Anything that's called a "saying" has to be well-known to some extent, by definition, of course -- Encarta defines "saying" as "a frequently offered piece of advice or information ..." No doubt it's appropriate to add "famous" in some circumstances, though. |
