<< review queue entry 48100 - submitted by 'monigeria' >> different pronunciation for this tcm word: pd ========================== Editor: After checking various sources, I believe: 1) The submitted pinyin (taken from Pleco's "pd") is wrong. All other references we found say it's jia1, not jia2. e.g. 中英英中専門用語辞典 夹杂 jiā zá complex http://cjjc.weblio.jp/content/%E5%A4%B9%E6%9D%82 2) "complex" is one of those TCM jargon words that serve to mystify, when a more comprehensible word like "mix" or "intermingling" would serve the interests of clarity much better. In various sources there are more enlightening definitions such as the following: 虚实夹杂 intermingled deficiency and excess 虚实夹杂证; 英文名称:: syndrome of intermingled deficiency and excess 寒热夹杂. 生词本. [医] intermingling cold and heat 寒热夹杂型 cold and heat mixed type 寒热夹杂 the condition of mixed Cold and Heat 3) In summary, this is not a new word. It's just 夹杂[jia1 za2], which is already in CEDICT with an appropriate definition: "a mix". |
