I can give you plenty more examples where the voice actors and the presenters of Chinesepod say [mei2 gui1].

It's to users' advantage for CEDICT to challenge what "all dictionaries say" and to give definitions and pr.'s that are different from others — as long as they are valid, of course :-) — rather than just be a carbon copy of the "conventional wisdom" or consensus of other dictionaries.

When a word has optional qingsheng, dictionaries just choose one pr. or the other. Perhaps they choose the one they think is more common, or perhaps they just copy what other dictionaries say, but the result is that users get the impression that the alternative is wrong, when it's not.

You are trying to make CEDICT line up with other dictionaries, because you think that when those dictionaries all say it's qingsheng, that must be the only correct pronunciation.
That's understandable, but wrong.
Dictionaries all say 浙江 is pronounced without qingsheng, but it's just *not true* that the qingsheng pronunciation is incorrect.
Both are correct. I've heard native speakers clearly say it with qingsheng, and YR Chao states explicitly in "Mandarin Primer":
"Some neutral tones are optional, as in 浙江 Jeh.jiang or Jehjiang"
[Pinyin: Zhèjiang and Zhèjiāng]
There are many words which have *optional* neutral tone, but most dictionaries just select one pronunciation or the other, not both.
And often, by convention (or mutual copying), they end up *all* saying the same thing, as in the case of 浙江.

Only beginners are hypnotized by qingsheng and discuss it endlessly.
When is the last time you failed to understand something because of qingsheng? Or were corrected for not using it?
