I think the literal part is clumsy, and that it would be better to omit it.
Otherwise, it might be rendered as sth like NC's "not occurring once in a thousand years".

"extremely rare opportunity" would be 千载难逢的机会, rather than 千载难逢
Diff:
- 千載難逢 千载难逢 [qian1 zai3 nan2 feng2] /lit. hard to meet in a thousand years (idiom); extremely rare opportunity/once in a blue moon/
+ 千載難逢 千载难逢 [qian1 zai3 nan2 feng2] /extremely rare (idiom)/once in a blue moon/
