of course this is only one word, with 讀音 and 語音 . But separating into two
defs makes some sense.

"to cut (down)" really had me baffled until I thought of 削價.

+ 削 削 [xiao1] /to peel with a knife/to pare/to cut (a ball at tennis etc)/
