<< review queue entry 44060 >> Wrong accent, according to NPCR, nciku.com should be yi2 gong4 Editor: Yes, it's as goldyn_chyld said. Think of it like this ~ One store says "We have taken 10% off all prices -- prices as marked". Another store says "You can take 10% off marked prices". Nciku is like the first store. We (and lots of other dictionaries) are like the second store. We follow Rule 11 of "Basic Rules of Hanyu Pinyin Orthography" http://www.pinyin.info/readings/zyg/rules.html "Only the original tones are indicated; tone sandhi is not indicated." [Only original prices are indicated; the discounted price is not indicated.] If you don't know about tone sandhi, try reading this: http://eastasiastudent.net/china/putonghua/tone-change-rules/ Actually, nciku seems to be inconsistent regarding tone sandhi. They sometimes indicate original tones as in their entry 保险 [bǎoxiǎn] and sometimes not, as in their entry for 一共 [yígòng]. |
