It only *hints* that 見面 isn't followed by 他 (for example). And it does so by sacrificing accuracy in the *meaning* conveyed by the definition -- because "meet face to face" is used in a context where one wishes to emphasize the contrast between (a) meeting in person, and (b) communicating through other channels (teleconference, intermediary, telephone, online etc). There is no such connotation attached to 見面. "see each other" works nicely in cases like 我们得等到战后才能见面。 and it also serves to hint to the user that you don't say 见面他 |
