<< review queue entry 43688 - submitted by 'xiaoxiong' >> first of all, Shenxi should be Shaanxi, and there's no reason why 'state' and 'surname' have to be capitalized in addition, 【现代汉语词典】 虢 Guó ①周朝国名。西虢在今陕西宝鸡东,后来迁到河南县东南。东虢在今河南郑州西北。 ②姓。 it's not only Shaanxi and Hunan, but also Henan etc I suggest we simply change it to 'ancient state', like in ABC and 漢語大詞典 (『古國名。』) Editor: There was no single "ancient state" known as either 虢 or 虢國. Wp says that the two Guo dukedoms of Eastern Guo and Western Guo "provided the Zhou Kings with a protective barrier on both sides of their territory" and that there were "a total of five states called Guo", including 西虢國 and 東虢國. |
