Editor: From what I can see, it's wrong to suggest that 置喙 implies "intervention", "breaking up a fight", or taking any *action* other than expressing an opinion.

"Sometimes I want to tell them to get walking halfway decent before thinking about Viagra," says Lin, though he has always bitten his tongue. After all, it's their business, right?

Performing on a stage where they can only dance to others' tunes, Taiwanese firms are often left standing in the wings while they wait for new standards to be set.

Hong Kong people could only act like outsiders, looking on as if the negotiations had nothing to do with them, without any room to say a thing.
