At any rate, "self-satisfied" seems pretty good in many instances. Here is an example I just found that reinforces that impression: 張翠華只好安慰自己，台灣的大牌醫師也都很「跩」，... "Chang Tsui-hua could only console herself with the fact that all popular Taiwan doctors are a bit taken with themselves too." Yves' comment ~ if "cocky" means "extremely arrogant", then that's not my understanding of the word (I said *my*) |
