<< review queue entry 42476 >> - Added "disingenuous" as an English definition for 伪善; there are currently no hits for the word "disingenuous" in MDBG. 诠释:「伪善」(偽善)之相反词为「真诚」(真誠) Editor: Just a couple more thoughts on this one ~ You could say that "hypocritical" means "pretending to have higher moral standards than one actually has" (Chinese: 偽善, literally "fake virtue"), whereas "disingenuous" is about saying something, knowing that it's incorrect, but pretending that one believes it's true. As I said, I really doubt that 偽善 means "disingenuous". If it can mean that, you should give more evidence than you provided. I think 言不由衷 or 无诚意 can approximate "disingenuous", but I'm not sure that even they quite match the meaning of the word. |
