"the heart's tunnel" is based on a garbled version of what 心窍 means. It's "heart *aperture*", not *tunnel*, and "heart aperture" more or less means "the mind" ~ "The Chinese word 竅 means "hole" or "aperture; orifice" of the body. The ancient Chinese believed that the organ of heart has an aperture or orifice, called 心竅 'heart aperture', through which thinking is conducted.
