But in fact, I propose to *delete* it (in a separate submission), because it's not necessary to include 閑談 闲谈 [xian2 tan2] /variant of 閒談|闲谈[xian2 tan2]/ since, at the single-hanzi level, 閑 and 閒 are noted as variants in CEDICT. It's the same with all of the many other pairs of variants, one using 閑 and the other using 閒 (like 閒談 and 閑談). E.g. There are 1a 閑漢 2a 閑暇 3a 閑書 4a 閑耍 and there are also 1b 閒漢 2b 閒暇 3b 閒書 4b 閒耍 I suggest we should only have the 閒 words (1b, 2b etc) in CEDICT and leave it to software tools to display these entries when someone searches for 閑漢, 閑暇 etc. - Wenlin displays entries for only 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a (There are *no* entries for compounds containing 閒!) - "Far East" has all eight words, but also many other words where only the 閒 form is given, and it is understood (from the entry for 閑) that 閑 may be substituted for 閒 in these compounds. - Currently, CEDICT has (2a and 2b), but has (3b and no 3a). I intend to put in a comprehensive submission on 閑 and 閒 entries in the near future. 4) "maybe we should check all the 閒/閑 entries, there's gotta be more mistakes" Any time you check a cross-section of CEDICT entries (such as "all entries containing **") you will find mistakes that need to be fixed. But I don't know what mistake is supposed to be identified in this submission. |
