Actually, I wouldn't pay too much attention to nciku's Comprehensive Chinese-English Dictionary. Nciku claims this word is used in the context of "environmental engineering"! Have a look at Google Images @ 去毛 and try telling me those ladies are all fellmongers :-) I think 去毛 can be simply regarded as a construct ~ 去(to remove) + 毛(hair, feathers or wool) "Fellmongering" is just a special case of that meaning, and probably a relatively uncommon one. |
