<< review queue entry 41874 - submitted by 'xiaoxiong' >> this entry is completely off the mark. 老好人 is sb who pretends that everything is fine in order to please everyone 【漢語大詞典】脾氣隨和, 待人厚道, 缺乏原則性的人。 Editor: Yes, I think this is much better. As a matter of fact, someone originally submitted "A person who is or wants to be friends with everybody, who keeps good connections with everybody", which is not so bad, but an editor at the time processed it as we see here ~ /a good man/a goody-goody/a bleeding heart/ I note that once again, it seems quite possible, or even likely, that nciku's "Comprehensive Chinese-English Dictionary" has copied its definition from CEDICT ~ 老好人 [lǎohǎorén] 1. noun [Spoken] Goody-goody; good man |
