Editor: Well, it's not a *phrasal* construct, but it's an example of a word whose meaning seems completely obvious from the hanzi, and we have indeed been calling these "constructs". You will, of course, find other examples ("precedents", if you like) of such constructs in CEDICT already, but really, there are so many words and expressions that are more interesting than this kind of word, and we would prefer to spend more time on those ... words such as 肠衣 or 布衣, for example. I think those are more useful to dictionary users. They can easily guess what 冬衣 means, even if it's not in the dictionary. We'd prefer to spend our limited time on less obvious words, which don't provoke yet another discussion about "Is this a construct?" 冬衣 is "in all the dicts so i think it's ok to process it", says another editor, so I'll process it this time. |
