<< review queue entry 40182 >> it's the same 慾 as in 情慾 Editor: "情慾" site:.tw About 1,230,000 results -- and it's in 41 of 3200 articles in TP (Taiwan Panorama) "情欲" site:.tw About 260,000 results -- and it's in 0 TP articles So, 情慾 seems ok. However, "慾女" site:.tw About 153,000 results "欲女" site:.tw About 598,000 results (neither is in TP) So it seems that 欲女 appears more frequently in traditional text, and in any case we have 欲 as a variant of 慾 ~ 慾 欲 [yu4] /desire/appetite/passion/lust/greed/ 欲 欲 [yu4] /to wish for/to desire/variant of 慾|欲[yu4]/ [ycandau] ~ "there is a variant relationship between 欲 and 慾 as nouns, I think" So any smart dictionary software should be able to identify 慾女 as equivalent to 欲女 Notice that we see 慾 as a noun, whereas 欲 can be a verb or a noun. So it seems that 情慾 is ok since 慾 works as a noun in that word, whereas in 欲女, perhaps 欲 tends to be regarded as a verb ~ "woman who desires" Well, that's speculation, but in any case the Google figures suggest that we keep 欲女 as the primary orthography for the word. |
