<< review queue entry 41124 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> N M GT Lots of dictionaries say, for the fig. part of the def, "train of thought; sequence of ideas" but I don't think that works very well for some of the following examples; nor does "general scheme of things" seem to hit the mark very well. GT says "context" and ABC says So now Tai-nan City and Tai-nan County, whose histories are interconnected, have been reunited after a 65-year separation. The form that architecture takes is often inseparable from the environment, climate, topography, and social networks of the given locale. Once she came to understand the origin of Chinese characters and their subsequent evolution, the relationship between the Chinese people and their language became even more fascinating. It's not that other ministries are incompetent, it's a problem of perspective and responsibility. Only by getting all matters and funding related to ethnic integrity returned to the CIP can the problems of indigenous people be correctly handled in the context of Aboriginal society, culture, history, and psychology. From the record of 30 years of urban life of the Amis people of Hualien and Taitung counties, Sun says, they still favor living environments close to water and close to nature, and the social network has not fallen apart. It has only been by combing through this mountain of material and researching the pathways of history that he has been able to build a foundation for innovating through the classical. Apart from commemorating the first anniversary of the August 8 floods, we should put ourselves in the shoes of these Aborigines, who, after dealing with the loss of their loved ones and the destruction of their homes, have been forced to move to a new, completely different environment, where their network of relationships is broken and their work situation entirely different. "Who could adapt immediately to such tremendous change?" 8 翻開近年電動車發展的脈絡 Looking back over the story of electric vehicles (EVs) in recent years, As for his exhibition philosophy, Ku proudly extols an "elitist system." But what he means by "elite" is not those people who sit up high telling others what to do, but those who take an interest in the overall cultural context and the conditions of daily life with more acuity and sensitivity than ordinary people. They need to build a structural, comprehensive, global historical perspective, to think about Taiwanese history in the context of world history in order to create a new, regionally situated history of Taiwan Editor: Julien, I think your comments were excellent. I think you have a much better understanding of the word than I did, even after I had looked at a couple of dozen examples. I was overly influenced by all the dictionaries that give "linear" definitions such as "sequence of ideas", "thread of thought", "train of thought". Your suggestion "threads" gave me the idea for "fabric", and I have taken the liberty of processing the entry directly myself now. Let me know if you think my wording needs further modification. I think "fabric" works quite well with words like 斷裂 -- "rupture the fabric (of relationships etc)" -- as in 人際脈絡斷裂, for example. Certainly, "fabric" seems better than what other dictionaries would suggest for a phrase like 人際脈絡斷裂: "rupture the ... *sequence of ideas* of relationships? ... *thread of thought* of relationships? ... *skeleton* of relationships?" ! |
