Should it be 'break off a struggle'?

Editor: I'm sure the author of the entry meant "off", but this phrase doesn't seem to be in dictionaries, other than the one it was copied from, and searching the Web yields only a few dozen results, many of them derived from CEDICT. I doubt that anyone checked to see whether or how this phrase is actually used. It was processed directly, without being reviewed by other editors.
