<< review queue entry 40302 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> Very significant update to this entry! ;-) Investigated following Julien's comment ... It seems very likely that 辣妹 is a word whose coining predates the formation of the Spice Girls. See correspondence from Yves. ---- Google Books ... Hmmm, I find 遠見雜誌1997年1月號 第127期. on the Web, which suggests that the "1993" mentioned at Google Books is incorrect. Still, it seems likely to me now that 辣妹 was not originally a reference to the girl group. The dictionary definitions give no hint that it might be anything to do with the girl group ~ Dr.eye 辣妹 ㄌㄚˋ ㄇㄟˋ1. [Slang] spicy girl (a girl who are very sex called spicy girl, slang of Taiwan) MoE ~ 穿著打扮時髦,行事作風大膽的年輕女性。 Googling ["l.m." "辣妹"] seems to give results that have LM rather than "l.m." |
