When looking at the ingredients of the stuff in my fridge, I kept coming across this word. ( I guess I have a sweet tooth). Google has over 24 million hits for "白砂糖" so I was surprised to not find it in the dictionary. My friend here says it's just the formal way to write white sugar. Google image searches confirm this. Or you can double check with
