I find a file in Wikipedia called "HK Central Theatre Lane Shanghai Tang Car-free zone.JPG" http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:HK_Central_Theatre_Lane_Shanghai_Tang_Car-free_zone.JPG The Wikipedia article 步行街 is matched to the English article "Pedestrian zone" "Pedestrian zones (also known as auto-free zones and car-free zones) ..." Photos in the Chinese Wp article include those that show spaces that are more like zones than streets. "car free zone should be a secondary literal definition"? I would say that "pedestrian street" would be more literal than "car-free zone." |
