This is a simple word, juggling with English w/o explaining why the Chinese word needs all this is an empty pastime. What's more, 物种 doesn't even mean "genus", that is 屬. "/has guts (i.e. courage)/nerve/" belongs in an entry for 有種, I don't know that the word is used in this sense *alone*. Thus it's useless and confusing here; all the more as this is here as "has guts", which is definitely not 種. It's not a CL for languages, but for the word "language", which will be indicated at 語言, so what is the use here? And that is anecdotal since it's also a CL for maybe 50 other words (emotions, abstract concepts...). If we can give guidelines in this entry as to when 種 should be used, all right. |
