It started as 寫成 [xie3 cheng2] /to compile (fashion through writing)/ and in that form dates back to the 1998 version of CEDICT. Looking at the J examples, 写成 is sometimes used to imply that the writing is completed e.g. #29 我亲自写成了这份报告。... But here, you would say "wrote the report myself" rather than "finished writing the report myself" -- it's a matter of understanding the grammar (成 indicating completion). In other cases, 成 indicates "becoming" rather than "completion" -- 把它写成了辛辣的讽刺作品。 "it became simply burning satire". . . and 把她写成一个唠唠叨叨、惹人生厌的女人 "[I should have abandoned the facts and] made her a nagging, tiresome woman." i.e. I should have *written her as* a nagging, tiresome woman. Again, it's a matter of understanding the grammar, rather than looking up the meaning of a "new word" 写成. I don't think "to compile" or "to form through writing" are of much help at all. |
