Having only "telescope" in dicts leads to:
"He raked the horizon with a telescope.他用望远镜扫视地平线。 "
(very unlikely)
"With the aid of a telescope a ship could be made out on the horizon.
借助望远镜可以看出在地平线上有一只船。"
(even more so.)

Yes, I suppose so. Also, ABC and Dr.eye both have "binoculars" in their definition, and F mentions ~
剧场用小望远镜 = opera glasses
which would seem unlikely, if 望远镜 were necessarily a single-tubed scope.
