看護 may be *old*, but I don't think it is *archaic*.
It appears in YR Chao's "Mandarin Primer" of 1948 -- that's not archaic times.
Some dicts say 旧 -- but that doesn't mean "archaic", does it?
Z, N & F say 旧, but M doesn't.
護士。如:「最近王老伯病情加重,需要一個特別看護日夜照顧。」

It's not hard to find apparently current examples such as
不過日後在龍山寺無意中碰到了這位看護,這位看護很熱情的找上我,...

Maybe it's "old" in PRC?

Chao writes that 护士 is a "more formal and polite term than 看护"

Anyway, I think the tag should come *before* "hospital nurse", otherwise it might be thought that even
verb usage is out of date (or archaic).
Diff:
- 看護 看护 [kan1 hu4] /to nurse/to look after/to watch over/hospital nurse (archaic)/
+ 看護 看护 [kan1 hu4] /to nurse/to look after/to watch over/(old) hospital nurse/
