This kind of wrong translation even gets into Wp! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foon_Yew_High_School Editor: because all "Confucius" sites copy the first available translation on the web, viz Legge's, doesn't mean this translation is the one and only. Charles Muller f.i says: To study and not think is a waste. To think and not study is dangerous. Lau says: 'If one learns from others but does not think, one will be bewildered. If, on the other hand, one thinks but does not learn from others, one will be in peril. |
