<< review queue entry 36851 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> This was based on F ~ 同母异父 tóngmǔ-yìfù (of children) be born of the same mother but a different father 同母异父姐妹 stepsister; half sister 同母异父兄弟 stepbrother; half brother But stepsiblings have neither a mother nor a father in common. I think F is wrong. A half- brother is not the same as a stepbrother. W ~ "In a blended stepfamily, both members of the couple may have had pre-existing children, or the couple may have additional children together. If both members of the couple have prior children, the children are stepbrothers and stepsisters to one another. Any subsequent child born to the couple becomes the half-sister or half-brother of the prior children from previous relations." Other sources say a stepbrother is 異父兄弟 or 異母兄弟 or 继兄弟 -- or the term 异父异母的 or 异父母的 is used. |
