The CEDICT definition of 迪 was originally /direct/follow/ -- i.e. the same as dict.cn Later, "to enlighten" was added and "follow" was deemed to be a verb, but not "direct." "phonetic di" was added, then removed, although its remnant can be seen in the def of 廸. I suppose 迪 is most often used as a phonetic, actually. MoE @ 迪 ~ 開導、引導。 進用、任用。 實踐、實行。 遵從、依循。 發語詞，無義。 Editor: for other senses, dicts disagree, i.e. they give different senses for the same example sentences. |
