And in usage, it seems that it can be regarded as adverbial "on a large scale", and whether it refers to a military or non-military undertaking depends upon the context. Non- military contexts seem common enough. "Carry out an operation" doesn't seem to match the usage of 大舉 in some examples like #1 and #3 below. 不像移民天堂的美國，接受移民已有200年歷史，... ... 澳洲大舉開放移民只有短短30年 警方已大举搜捕抢劫金条的罪犯. 从天空来看,台风很可能约在明日此时大举发作 人们自爱尔兰大举涌入美国。 七月七日卢沟桥事变，是日本帝国主义大举进攻中国本部的开始。 |
