add "a hired gun"
Editor: How about some evidence?
An example sentence where 枪手 has that specific meaning?

And which sense of "hired gun" do you mean?
1) An expert brought in to resolve complex problems or to lobby for a cause
2) A hired bodyguard, mercenary, or assassin
?

nCiKu's "Contemporary Standard Chinese Dictionary" gives the following definition
1) 古时指以长枪为武器的士兵;现指射击手。
2) 指考试时冒名顶替别人做文章或答题的人。

Both of those senses are pretty much covered by our current definition.

I may have missed something. If you think it also has the specific sense "hired gun",
please submit again with evidence.
Diff:
= 槍手 枪手 [qiang1 shou3] /gunman/sharpshooter/sb who takes an exam for sb else/sb who produces a piece of work for sb else to pass off as their own/
# + 槍手 枪手 [qiang1 shou3] /gunman/sharpshooter/sb who takes an exam for sb else/sb who produces a piece of work for sb else to pass off as their own/a hired gun/
