It appears that you are using a website (www.mdbg.net, perhaps?) which uses other sources as well as CC- CEDICT. In any case, the definition for 极 in CEDICT is "extremely / pole (geography, physics) / utmost / top". The other definition you quoted is from the Unihan database, not CEDICT. If the website you are using is displaying "sometimes conflicting or scattered sources of information for the same zi", you could ask the owner of that website about it, but it is not something the editors of CEDICT can fix.
