Editor: yes, by a process which is known as metonymy or something. In English you say 'tea' when in fact you mean "tea leaves". Or let's say, you made a chamomile infusion, presumably you didn't use the roots.
But all this doesn't change the fact that 艾蒿 is the name of a plant, nothing more.
