<< review queue entry 35587 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> capital F for Fo2 (Buddha) 千佛洞 seems to refer to a *complex* of grottos rather than a *single* "grotto" as in the current def. It's not a reference to Mogao Caves -- rather, it's the other way around -- Mogao Caves is one example of a 千佛洞. Another one is "The Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves (Simplified Chinese:柏孜克里千佛洞; Hanyu Pinyin: Bózīkèlǐ Qiān Fó Dòng) are complex of Buddhist cave grottos dating from the 5th to the 9th centuries between the cities of Turpan and Shanshan (Loulan) at the north-east of the Taklamakan Desert near the ancient ruins of Gaochang in the Mutou Valley, a gorge in the Flaming Mountains, China." [Wp] and here's another: "The Kizil Caves (also romanized Qizil Caves, spelling variant Qyzyl; Uyghur: Qizil Ming Öy; simplified Chinese: 克孜尔千佛洞; pinyin: Kèzīěr Qiānfú Dòng; literally "Kizil Cave of a Thousand Buddhas") are a set of 236 Buddhist rock-cut caves located near Kizil Township (克孜尔乡) in Baicheng County, Xinjiang, China."
