The figurative use of 头脑 is in such sentence as 摸不着头脑, which means clueless about something. Editor: following discussion: just because you have learnt one word for "boss" doesn't mean all other words are incorrect. This is well attested. "clue/main threads of thought" is a copy of what is in various dictionaries, that doesn't make it better; try to use 頭腦 as "clue" in a sentence. You may translate 摸不着头脑 as "clueless", that doesn't make 头脑=clue. Try to translate in French (German, Spanish...) and see what I mean. |
